Focusing on MotivationLast year, our school was engaged in a MUN-TIA STEM project.. Here, we saw many positive results in both academic achievement and motivation. We wanted to continue this momentum and expand this success in others areas of the school. Over the last few year, it was noted that our Junior High science results were not meeting our expectations. We decided this would be an area we could further explore to find ways to motivate students and thus, increase their academic success.
The focus of this project became exploring ways to motivate upper elementary and junior high students in the area of science. Through guided research and discussions with MUN-TIA facilitators, we decided to implement engineering design challenges within the classroom.
