Student Testimonials:
It’s fun to get out of our comfort zone and try new things so I enjoyed this alot. I loved doing some hands on stuff for a change, and I really liked figuring out how to put it together. I didn’t quite understand the putting it together part a lot but I enjoyed making it talk and programming it. - Maddy
Yes i think we should keep doing these challenges because we are all learning a nice bit from it and it's really fun. Plus its alot easier to learn from actually doing something in class then reading from a book. - Dawson

My favorite part was when we were building the robot and when we would put random pieces together until we realized which ones worked when you connected the pieces to each other. It was so fun to see the ideas that we had in our heads to actually come to life in a robot that talked and moved! - Shannon

“I think we should keep on doing these activity's because I learned a lot from this and its easier to learn this way.i think we should continue with these design challenges because its a good use of our time and its fun.” -Davis
We should continue to do these design challenges they're great and funner every time, i've learned a lot from them as well its a lot better then just sitting in class and just listening to you talk when that happens that always really boring. - Emily B |
I think these design challenges are a good idea because it shows us a new way to learn new things using teamwork instead of just doing worksheets individually or listening to the teacher explain it in the front of the classroom. I also think it`s good because I can do things better when I can actually see it in person and put your hands on it instead of doing worksheet after worksheet. It also helps me remember A LOT more then I would if I just did it on a worksheet. - Shannon The other 3 design challenges we did helped me learn, from doing the other challenges I learned that thought and team work is a big part of working with other people and also that you have to get everyone's ideas included in your work and not just your own ideas. - Emily D |
With the three other design challenges, they did have an impact on how we learned with the Lego Robotics. The first design challenge that we had done was the straw bridge. We had to build a sturdy bridge made out of straw. This helped with learning that without a sturdy base, the robot would not move straight and would not be level. Then the second design challenge had helped with connecting everything and actually building something. The flashlight challenge helped us program the robot and make sure it works correctly. The third design challenge helped us with the speed and the way to make sure everything works correctly. - Emily M |
*I think it's totally worth our time because we're learning, that's what we come to school for. So I think this is funnier than just doing math work in our seats, it gets us up and gets us moving, and we get excited of how it's gonna turn out, it's like 3 subjects mixed together language arts, math, art, so we are actually learning. - Rebecca
